Plants in the Gardens

The gardens were designed to include low maintenance flowering perennials and shrubs as well as a variety of native trees which would provide habitat for animals and birds. All of the plants must be able to survive extremes of heat and cold and alternating periods of drought and flood. Plants which did not have to be fertilized or treated for disease or insect infestations were preferred as no insecticides or fungicides are used in the gardens and natural compost is used for fertilizer.
